Leading off the news conference, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said, “As many of you are aware there’s currently some news breaking out of Afghanistan so I just want to give you a quick update. At around 7pm local time in Afghanistan last night, the United States military used a GBU-43 weapon in Afghanistan.”
“The GBU-43 is a large, powerful and accurately delivered weapon.” Spicer said, “We targeted a system of tunnels and caves that ISIS fighters used to move around freely, making it easier for them to target US military advisers and Afghan forces in the area. The United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously, and in order to defeat the group we must deny them operational space, which we did.
Spicer added, “The United States took all precautions necessary to prevent civilian casualties and collateral damage as a result of the operation. Any further details I would refer you to the Department of Defense on that.”
The GBU-43, which was dropped for the first time in combat on Thursday, is a 21,600 pound terrorists’ worst nightmare, that is the US military’s largest non-nuclear bomb. Based on it’s acronym which is structured as the Massive Ordinance Air Blast bomb (MOAB), another identity has also been dubbed upon it, the “Mother Of All Bombs”
It is roughly 20 feet in length and can penetrate 200 feet of earth and 60 feet of concrete before detonating.
There is a “Father of all bombs,” created by the Russians in 2007 which is actually four times as powerful as the mother of all bombs. It’ called the Thermobaric Bomb of Increased Power. Once we get over our little Democrat fomented spat, maybe they’ll be willing to share, if needed. We both agree blowing up terrorists is the right thing to, and it’s kind of fun to watch.
